death of socrates- socrates was put on trail after corrupting the young minds of athenians and founding new gods. his defense "i view Athens as a stupid sluggish horse and i am the horsefly that is here to prode them and get them moving. I am guilty as charged but you should be thanking me." then the jury decided death by hemlock and socrates had the chance to leave and not die but he decided to go along with what they decided.
